If you do not update the nomination by December 31, then many types of facilities will not be available. These include facilities like pension and insurance. EPFO has increased the limit of EDLI i.e. Employee Deposit Linked Insurance to Rs 7 lakh in May this year. Under this scheme, if a PF member dies, then the nominee will get this amount in a lump sum. If the nominee is not updated by December 31, the benefit of this facility will not be available. The minimum sum insured under this is Rs 2.5 lakh. EPFO has started e-nomination campaign under the Amrit Mahotsav of Azadi.
