UP to 68 lakh youth will get tablets and smartphones from December 2021

The supply of tablets and smartphones will start in November. 68 lakh youth in the state will start getting tablets or smartphones from December. For this, a portal will be launched soon to feed the data of eligible students and trainees. The purchase of tablets and smartphones will be done through the JAM portal. The state government claims that its supply will start from November.
Arvind Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary, Industrial Development Department, said that the responsibility of feeding the data of the students would be with the concerned college, university or educational institution. After data feeding, the eligible students of the scheme will be informed about the availability of tablet or smartphone on their mobile. He said that the terms and conditions of the tender for the purchase of tablets or smartphones would be approved by the cabinet. Once the approval is received, the tender will be done in seven days. Its distribution will start from December. He said that the district level committee would prepare the roadmap for its distribution.

90 percent youth will get tablet
ACS Arvind Kumar told that 80 to 90 percent students will be given tablets.
Smartphones will be available only to 10 to 20 percent of the students.
