Reliance Jio will launch the world's cheapest smartphone on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi on September 10. It has been made in collaboration with Google under the name of JioPhone Next. Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani announced the launch at the company's 44th Annual General Meeting on Thursday. The price of the phone has not been revealed yet. Ambani also announced the launch of Reliance's 5G service first in India.
Ambani said that with the launch of this 4G/5GSmart smartphone, 300 million consumers currently using 2G network in the country will get an opportunity to shift to 4G and 5G. He said that Jio is not only working to make India 2G free, but it is also the company's aim to make the country 5G enabled. Ambani said that during the 5G trial, Jio has successfully achieved speeds of more than 1 Gbps. 5G network has been installed at data centers spread across the country and due to the strong network of Reliance Jio, 4G to G ease.
