Central government of India launched the merit up gradation scheme. This scheme is also launched in state of UP. This scheme is also functioning in 6 district of Up since 1989-90 for the SC schedule caste category candidates. Basic aim of this scheme is provide the remedial coaching for the SC category of the candidates for removing the all the hurdle and upgrade the merit of the students. . This scheme is launched for following college of Up.

- Government Inter college Agra
- GIC Moradabad
- Government Inter college Jhansi
- GIC Gorakhpur
- GIC Allahabad
Government decided to continue this scheme in 2016-17 for the selected government Inter College. Under scheme class 9th studying students of 6 GIC colleges will get the benefit of merit ucchikrit yojana . 20-20 talented students will get selection for the merit Upgrading scheme.
Government will conduct a practical examination for the selecting candidates of merit ucchikrit Yojana. Written examination will be held on 26 June 2016.
Only class 8th pass students are eligible for this scheme. Appearing candidates of class 8 will be also eligible for this scheme.
Benefit of merit ucchikrit Yojana
Selected students will be get rs 900 per month for 10 month for boarding and lodging – total 9000
Total 300 per month for pocket money for 10 Month - total 3000
Total 3000 annually for the book and stationary .
Total 15000 annually financial help will be given to SC, students of the GIC . rs 10000 per year will be provide for principal / teacher for 10 month for remedial coaching and other management.
How to apply: all eligible SC, students of class 8 pass or class 9th appearing can fill application form. Registration form is available free of cost in concerned GIC. / attach cast certificate which wll be issue by Tehsildar . jati praman patra will be verified by the Tehsildar. Application form will be available free of cost.
If applicant is already getting the benefit of the other scheme they be barred from the scheme. Selected candidates will get the residential remedial coaching.
Coaching will be available free of cost.
Selected beneficiary will get benefit of the merit up gradation scheme in class 10th, 11th and 12th class.
